Today I spent a rainy day hanging out with my friend Kim in Animal Kingdom. That’s an interesting park in the rain because I find it interesting to see the animals and how they all react a bit differently. I think today I was most amused by the vultures under the Tree of Life. There were two of them just sitting on a large log near the ground, their heads sort of tucked in, letting the rain just fall on them.
It sort of made me think about life and how when the storms come, we humans all tend to react differently too, but those vultures, they just seemed to accept the weather with patience and grace. I sort of liked that.
I got two streams in. The first one for the fan club where we saw the vultures and got some really great images of Animal Kingdom in the quiet rain, because I was there at opening and I think the rain held some of the crowd at bay. We walked up through Asia, watched monkeys play, took in a small temple and then watched an eerily quiet Everest.
I’ve never seen it like that. It obviously wasn’t running, but the mist had come in around the base, and again, there weren’t any people around… it was strange, but kinda cool.
After that Kim and I wandered to the dinosaurs in search of the gift shop, along the way we encountered a duck. lol
Kim waited while I did the Disney Lovin stream, in the rain. We walked from dinosaur to Africa, through Pandora. It was a good stream, we even got caught by the Flight Of Passage Stand-By Line Parade!
Bet you didn’t even know that was a thing, did you 😉
After the stream, I headed back to Restrauntasaurus to meet Kim for lunch!
We sat in the old Airstream trailer in the back corner of the restaurant and I have to say, I hadn’t done that before, it was pretty awesome. I’ll be doing it again for sure!
I actually like Restrauntasaurus a lot anyway, they have a great black bean burger, and a chili cheese dog which I had this particular day, and the best toppings bar on property!
Seriously, it has chili and sauteed onions and peppers on it, guacamole, two types of pickles… I could make lunch of just the toppings bar… but they frown on that. LOL
This was my lunch on this day, sorry the photo’s not great, I was more in hang out with my friend mode, than take photos mode. 😉 Good dog though. I added some toppings to it from the bar and this meal was the lowest priced thing on the menu, the dog and fries coming in at $10.79
After lunch and conversation in our Airstream, we moved on to Pandora.
I know everyone raves about Pandora at night, but I prefer it in the daytime. It’s quite dark at night to better show off the bioluminescent forest and that means there is a great amount of beauty and detail that are now hidden in the dark.
I find this to be one of the most beautiful places in all of Disney World, so I hope you’ll take it in day and night to see both.
In the meantime, here’s a minute of zen provided by the glorious Pandora falls.
Here’s me and Kim in Pandora. I’m trying to remember to share more photos of ME enjoying this journey. 😉
The last thing we did on this rainy day, was It’s Tough To Be A Bug as this was one of the things on my list of things I’ve yet to do.
Now I enjoyed it, it was adorable, but man, Kim kept laughing maniacally while we were waiting in line, I was a bit worried about what I was about to experience! But it’s a pretty cute all sensory adventure that’s not too scary, but does have its moments! And now I can check that from my list of never dones!
That was it from day 339, here’ a moment of DeVine magic for you all that I hope you enjoy. I am always so mesmerized by her and love to share.
Have a great rest of your day, don’t forget to check out our new fan club, and I’ll see y’all in the parks!
